Season two presents a more expansive view of the historical drama--including the birth of Henry's first son Prince Edward, Machiavelli's advice on how to best present military power, Henry's secret meetings with Cardinal Wolsey, the rise of Cardinal Campeggio as the Pope's ambassador, the execution of the Duke of Suffolk, regicide of King Henry's stepmother Queen Margaret, his ruthless suppression of the Pilgrimage of Grace, John Fisher's conspiracy to depose him, his building of the Boleyn family at court, Wolsey's fall from power, Cromwell's rise in stature, and his eventual execution at Whitehall. The series is also more concerned with the Tudor dynasty's lives after Henry VII's death, allowing the show's characters to approach their future.
Season three of The Tudors returns in 2009, and is set in 1540. It centers on the personal and political relationship of Henry VIII with his second wife, Anne Boleyn and her family, as well as Anne's brother, Henry Norris; his daughter, Elizabeth; and her rumored love affair with Sir Thomas Wyatt. During a crucial battles with the Siege of Boulogne Northern France, the King orders Norris to deliver one of the most prominent prisoners (Sir Henry Norris) to the Border.
